I want to start by saying that this review is more about client treatment and customer service than the finished product. I genuinely like how my hair turned out, but the way Ms. Acia treated me throughout my appointment completely ruined the experience, and that’s why I won’t be returning. Dr. Acia’s treatment was unprofessional, unkind, and overall unacceptable. My appointment was scheduled for 5 PM, but we didn’t even begin until 6:15 PM because she was busy washing and starting another client’s hair when I arrived. When she finally got to me, I was looking forward to that relaxing sensation of having my hair washed. Unfortunately, that was far from what I experienced. She scrubbed my scalp so harshly and wrung out my hair with such force that I was physically wincing. After washing, she set the timer for the dryer but then walked away without any instructions. I ended up sitting there with soaking wet hair, realizing she had left me unattended while she sat on her phone on the other side of the wall. I had to pull the dryer down over my own head to dry my hair! During the bleaching process, she casually remarked, “You have a bald spot in the back of your head.” I was shocked and asked for more specifics, only to be met with her curt reply: “In the back of your head.” For someone who specializes in alopecia and hair rejuvenation, I expected a more tactful approach and some guidance on how to address hair loss. Instead, she provided no helpful information or concern about the breakage. She was extremely hurtful and belittling with her language. She had horrible decorum. The most unprofessional moment came when it took her over an hour to mix my color. She was on the phone loudly discussing another job, leaving me sitting there with bleached, wet hair and no communication about why it was taking so long. I spent over five hours in the salon, which I would have been fine with if the atmosphere had been nurturing and supportive. Instead, I felt talked down to and disregarded. No one should leave a beauty service feeling less than their best, and Ms. Acia made me want to leave her salon as quickly as possible. I cannot recommend this salon based on my experience.
Taylor, It’s rarely I get time to see or reply to reviews. But, since I use an appointment system to verify services rendered. Your post here would make someone think this was your very first visit and it wasn’t. Which I always tell people that read and rely on customers reviews to check out all of the persons reviews because some people you just can’t please. After reviewing your reviews it explains why you waited after being services in this salon 6 different times starting December 2022, then returning 9/23/2023, then returning 10/2024 all for coloring services. You never was services here in 2025. Numbers do not lie people do. I would have never not told you as a hair care/hair loss specialist signs of hair loss! Profile pictures will display photos of the previous services so Dr. Acia Williams couldn’t have been all of these things to return and pay money again and again. Then 4 people actually believed you… I am going to seek my lawyer for slander against comments like this. Reviews like this are not acceptable especially when false.

Honestly the owner of this place is the reason I give this place 1 star. Beyond rude. Clearly thinks she’s privileged. I could never go somewhere were the owner is that nasty.
Jennifer, I usually never see nor have the time to reply to reviews but please share when have I ever serviced you. We have no record of EVER servicing you. Whatever made you leave a false review it’s just shameful. I have an appointment booking system that keeps record of all appointments including cancellations you have not come up one-time. Also I remember faces before names. I NEVER serviced you before. Then people read things like this and make judgment on stuff that’s not factual. I don’t believe in solely judging me trying a business based on someone else’s reviews because it’s a one sided opinion and story. You have to experience people and places for yourself. People lie, numbers don’t!

This barbershop hands-down was a really great experience. Everyone was so personable respectful they made conversation I got treatment from meek who is a Barber in there. He greeted me right away. I didn’t have to wait. He was very precise and make sure that my hair was the way it should be. I definitely believe this is a barbershop that’s gonna end up taking over U street. They have a forever customer in me.
