I opted for the STRIP procedure because it was a more cost-effective option for me at the time. Reflecting on the entire experience, I can confidently say it has been a transformative journey, and I’m thrilled with the results. From the very beginning, the process was incredibly smooth. Dr. Diep and his support staff were professional, attentive, and reassuring, making the procedure seamless. Their care didn’t end there—they’ve been equally supportive during the post-surgery follow-ups, promptly addressing any concerns I had and guiding me through the recovery and maintenance process. Following Dr. Diep’s recommendations, I took finasteride daily for the first two years after the transplant, and later transitioned to an every-other-day regimen. This adjustment worked perfectly for me, as I haven’t experienced any hair fall issues. Additionally, Dr. Diep suggested A-cell injections once a year for robust hair growth and maintenance, which I’ve been doing consistently for the last four years. My experience was incredibly distressing, leaving me with a significant scar and severe hair loss in the donor area due to "shock loss," along with persistent pain and discomfort. The process felt reckless and rushed, prioritizing money over everything else! Here’s a brief overview of what I went through: - On the day of the surgery, upselling tactics, facing unexpected charges for injections and being informed of extra grafts authorization just moments before the operation. - After the procedure, I was asked to pay cash for additional grafts that were placed during the surgery. - For nearly three days post-operation, I dealt with excessive bleeding, yet I was sent home too soon after receiving more stitches on the second day after the surgery, which only exacerbated the bleeding. - My worries about the donor area’s healing and the swelling were dismissed, and I was prescribed antibiotics multiple times due to infections. - Eventually, I discovered from other doctors that too much skin had been removed during the surgery (a process known as overharvesting), which caused complications, large scar, infections and an extended healing period. What’s most disheartening is that they were aware of the root causes of these issues. Instead of being honest with me, they provided misleading explanations, which only heightened my anxiety about the prolonged healing time. It took over 3 months for a donor area to heal. Almost four months later, I still experience discomfort and pain in the donor area, and I may be facing permanent hair loss, a noticeable scar, and an uneven scalp. Despite paying over $20k+, not a single follow-up call has been made to check on my recovery. Please consider my experience before choosing a similar path.
